General objectives of the program
The doctorate in Territorial Planning and Environmental Management is a program which aims to foster fundamental research in the fields of territorial planning and environmental management, part of the long, diverse geographical tradition at the University of Barcelona. The various lines of research offered seek to orient students in specific fields of research thanks to specialists of proven standing. Specifically, it sets out to seek new ways of thinking about territory and new ways of organising it in accordance with the demands of 21st-century welfare society, meeting demands for sustainability, respect for people's rights and education for peace and coexistence.

Specific requirements and criteria for admission to the doctoral program and applicant merit rating
The Studies Committee may admit students who come from university master's courses other than those which officially lead to this doctoral program. In deciding whether to admit these students consideration will be given to whether the studies they have completed are similar or in related fields and to the student's interest in carrying out research in one of the areas offered in the doctoral program. In this case the students admitted must complete the 20 credits of the research module of the master's program in Territorial Planning and Environmental Management (5 seminar credits and 15 for research work), as specific bridging training.
