General objectives of the program |
Acquisition of skills in analysis, problem detection and decision-making in relation to research, leadership and management of nursing and health care.
Increase the ability to communicate with the academic and scientific community and with society in general on the topics of the areas of knowledge related to health care.
To develop skills in the oral and written use of the languages of the international scientific community in the field of health care knowledge.
Develop the ability to criticise and intellectually defend solutions in the field of health care. |

Specific requirements and criteria for admission to the doctoral program and applicant merit rating |
The Academic Committee has set the following specific requirements for the standard admission pathways.
1. The doctoral programme is open to the following candidates: graduates in Nursing, Podiatry, Health Sciences or other related sciences with a university master's degree from the list of recommended qualifications for each programme, or a master's degree in a related discipline. The Academic Committee will assess whether the previous studies are compatible with the content of the doctoral programme and consider the candidate's interest in carrying out research in one of the research areas offered.
2. In all cases, candidates must have successfully completed at least 300 ECTS credits in their bachelor's and master's degree studies.
3. The Committee will also consider candidates who meet the requirements established in Point 2.c, Article 20, RD 99/2001 of 28 January.
4. Assessment of merits: application with a brief description of a proposed thesis project in one of the programme's research areas, to be evaluated by a lecturer attached to the area in question; curriculum vitae and academic record for previous qualifications. English language proficiency.
Candidate evaluation criteria:
The Academic Committee will select students on the basis of the following criteria, which are weighted as shown:
1. Academic record and other academic merits. In particular, the Committee will consider whether the candidate has sufficient training to begin a thesis in an area related to nursing and health. Weighting 40%
2. Curriculum vitae: credit will be given for previous knowledge of the topics covered by the doctoral programme. Credit will also be given for professional and research experience in this field. Weighting: 40%
3. Application with a brief description of a proposed thesis project in one of the programme's research areas, to be evaluated by a lecturer attached to the area in question. Weighting: 10%
4. English language proficiency. Credit will be given for official certification of level B2 or a recognized equivalent. Weighting: 10% |

Salidas profesionales |
The programme offers advanced training, from an interdisciplinary perspective, in research, leadership and care management and is aimed at obtaining a doctoral degree. Career opportunities focus on the academic and healthcare fields (among others). The PhD programme aims to prepare its graduates for their future incorporation into universities, health centres and institutions. |
